RED LIGHT CAMERA

The Light is Red for a Reason... So Stop!

On Monday December 5, 2005, the City of Loma Linda in conjunction with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department began an automated red light enforcement program utilizing the newly installed red light cameras at four major intersections in Loma Linda. This system was tested for thirty (30) days, as required by California law. The test period expired as of January 9, 2006, and motorists who violate the law will now receive a citation.

The four affected intersections are:
  • Redlands Blvd. at Anderson St.
  • Redlands Blvd. at Mt View Ave.
  • Barton Rd. at Anderson St.
  • Barton Rd. at Mt View Ave.

The “Redflex” red light camera systems consist of three digital still cameras and one digital video camera. These systems are able to capture multiple digital still images of the violation including the license plate of the violator’s vehicle and facial image of the driver. In addition, the system captures a twelve (12) second digital video clip of the violation (six seconds preceding the violation and six seconds post violation).

All red light violators at these intersections will receive citations in the mail. Upon receiving the citation, the violator will have the opportunity to pay the fine, contest the citation, or view a twelve (12) second video of the violation, and will then decide whether or not to contest the citation any further.
