City of Loma Linda New Water Conservation Standard and Self Certification

July 20, 2016

City of Loma Linda New Water Conservation Standard

The State Water Resources Control Board has adopted new rules that allow local agencies to determine the appropriate drought response depending on local conditions. Part of this process involves a "stress test" to determine if projected supplies are sufficient to meet anticipated water demand over the next three years (2017, 2018, and 2019) while assuming drought conditions will persist.

On June 22, 2016, The City submitted a voluntary 10% reduction in water use to the State. The previously mandated standard over the last two years was 28-32%.

Over the last two years of drought, The City's average conservation effort has been 16%. The voluntary 10% reduction takes into consideration future growth and demand. Assuming no change in our customers' efforts, the new 10% reduction should be attainable over the next three years.

The City still needs to comply with the existing mandate of reducing 20% by 2020. Please continue all efforts to conserve and assist The City in meeting the state mandate.
