Public Works Mission Statement:

The mission of the Department of Public Works is SERVING the community by carrying out our responsibilities in an efficient, courteous, and safe manner at all times and under all conditions. PROTECTING the public facilities and resources to the best of our ability and with the public interest both in mind and in action. CARING for the needs and desires of the community in such a way as to demonstrate our sincere desire to provide the best public services our department can offer.

Department Functions

The Department consists of three (3) divisions:

  1. Engineering Division - Programs & Functions
    This division is responsible for the sections relative to plan check, construction inspection, consultant-contract administration, contract project administration and various regional programs that involve transportation, solid waste, storm water management and public utilities. The department's duty is to implement and cooperate in those programs established and/or mandated by federal, state, county, and special districts.
  2. Operations Division - Duties and Objectives
    This division conducts all of the maintenance activities for the department which include landscape-parks, streets, traffic safety, sewer collection, water production and distribution, meters, storm drainage, fleet and equipment, public building and various contract services such as mechanics, and landscapers.
  3. Administration - Role and Intent
    This is the area of responsibility that the director, administrative secretary, associate engineer function in to perform fiscal activities, and personnel administration.
